Current Animals

Your support will enable Animal Town Sanctuary & Farm to continue saving and caring for seniors, displaced, and neglected animals. Through animal sponsorships, we can provide our rescued animals with the proper vet care, food, and quality of life that every animal deserves.  With your sponsorship, your donation will go directly towards the animals' needs and care.

Sugar Bear

Sugar Bear is a fifteen year old Siberian Husky mix. She lived as a street dog, sleeping in a car, for ten years. She was relinquished to Animal Friends of the Valley by her former owner because she could no longer care for her. She was in poor health due to her inconsistent diet of leftover human junk food. Her teeth were in  poor condition, her energy was low and her tail was between her legs. Her paws were burnt from walking hot sidewalks.  When she arrived at Animal Town,  we slowly introduced her to grain free dry food, glucosamine, and omega 3 oils and saw an instant improvement in her behavior and her energy. It took us over one year for her to be rehabilitated to normal status.

Dennis and Chee Current Animals

Dennis & Chee are a bonded pair of feral cats. They are both two years old. They were found roaming the hills near the sanctuary over one year ago. We took both of these cats to our vet where they were given shots, treated for worms and ear mites, and major dental issues because Dennis was missing a lot of his teeth. We got Dennis neutered immediately but Chee had to wait, because she was pregnant. We let her finish her term and were able to adopt all of her seven babies to indoor homes. She was finally spayed and now lives a happy indoor life with her companion, Dennis.

Tucker Current Animals

Tucker is a twenty year old African Spurred Tortoise who was found wandering East San Diego County in 2020. He was captured by Animal Control and made his way to Animal Town shortly thereafter. Tucker has a special habitat that was made just for him, which simulates his natural environment.  He doesn’t hibernate, so his habitat is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer months.  Tucker is over 100lbs and is our largest rescue at the sanctuary.

Fluffy Butt Posse Animals Current

Officer Doodle Doo & The Fluffy Butt Posse were welcomed to our sanctuary in 2021 as a group rescue. The recent backyard chicken fad has overwhelmed our local shelters with owners wanting to relinquish their chickens who are no longer wanted. Officer Doodle lets us all know its time to rise and shine every morning and The Fluffy Butt Posse provides us multi colored eggs every day.  They have a very large fenced yard that is covered with aviary netting to protect them from flying predators. Their hen house has an automatic coop door and is also heated. We are happy to have them at our sanctuary

Roosevelt Current Animals

Rosevelt, Truman, Grover, Nixon, & Henry came to Animal Town in 2021 within a month of each other. Our sanctuary provides us a lot of area that we can build habitats for many animals.  We received a call from San Diego Tortoise Society and they said they needed our help. They informed us that they had two sets of bonded Mojave Desert tortoises, a total of five males, that needed to be rescued due to environmental habitat displacement. These tortoises were all approximately two years old and were bonded. The staff was able to construct two habitats immediately and rescued the boys the following day. Their habitats are all planted with indigenous species and landscaped to mimic their natural environment.
